How to Start up in SAFE MODE

This procedure describes how to reboot or start up the computer in SAFE MODE. Quote:"Safe mode" comes with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista. Safe mode lets you turn off unnecessary computer programs so that you can find the cause of a problem. When you are done, you can turn on the programs again. Safe mode looks and acts differently than normal Windows. In Safe mode: You cannot connect to the Internet. Windows looks different. Many programs that start with Windows will not start. |

Windows 95, 98, ME: - Restart the computer - Watch the screen while it is black. After the BIOS memory check is completed (the first step in any reboot), start rapidly tapping the F8 key. If done right, the Windows boot menu will appear. - Select Safe Mode from the menu. (Starting Windows in Safe Mode may take several minutes.) - When you have finished working in SAFE MODE, restart the computer and Windows will start in normal mode. Windows 2000, XP, Vista: - Restart the computer - Watch the screen while it is black. After the BIOS memory check is completed (the first step in any reboot), start rapidly tapping the F8 key. If done right, the Windows Advanced Options Menu will appear. - Select Safe Mode from the menu. (Starting Windows in Safe Mode may take several minutes.) - When you have finished working in SAFE MODE, restart the computer and Windows will start in normal mode.
